Launched in October 2011, F’HILL Radio is Farnborough Hill’s very own state-of-the-art radio station which broadcasts to all classrooms before school and at lunch times, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
All shows are planned and produced by a selection of talented Year 11 pupils who broadcast a wide range of musical tastes ranging from the Beatles to Goldfrapp so all pupils are guaranteed to find a tune to their liking. The shows are wide and varied, with hits from the all the top musicals ‘Curtain Call’ and ‘Single Ladies’ on Mondays, to ‘We’re not exactly ABBA’ on Wednesday, and ‘F’Hill’s Top Tunes’ on Fridays.
Our presenters keep the shows interactive with competitions and giveaways as well as welcoming musical requests and shout-outs from their listeners. Our roving reporters also catch all the gossip and news providing up to date interviews and reports.
Some of our highlights have included an interview with Alex Danson, ex-pupil and Olympic Women’s Hockey Team Gold Medallist. Another star interview was with Jonathan Dimbleby and the panel, following their 'Any Questions' broadcast from the school. More recently, students have interviewed, Sir Gerald Howarth (former local MP), and put many challenging questions to him. The most celebrated opportunity was receiving a master-class and interview with the renowned TV journalist, John Suchet from Classic FM in 2016.
In partnership with 96.4 Eagle Radio DAB, Guildford the F’HILL teams annually attend a tailor-made Radio Course at their headquarters in Guildford Town Centre, learning presenting skills and gaining experience with the high-tech equipment which is mirrored in our own state-of-the-art studio. Meeting and interviewing radio celebrities such as PG and Bev from the Breakfast Show, Wes Ven from Drive time and Adam Morris from the Mid Morning Show gave the crew a valuable insight into the world of radio.
